Next REM race this Saturday Feb 11

 The latest rant is up.

We will still be working on it this coming weekend REM will be starting a new transponder program this weekend.  Ours is a completely different way of doing transponders.   First there is no charge for REM members, unless you try to remove your transponder sticker which will destroy it.  In that case there will be a $5 charge to replace it.  The sticker will go under your visor.  Second we are not scoring by it.  It is only for lap times.  Third it is up to the racer to look at their times.  It is all on wifi, you will be able to log on to our wifi at the track and using your smart phone, ipad, or lap top be able to look up your lap times and those of your competition.   There is a free app for iphone, ipad that will allow you to capture that info directly onto your phone or device for later study, there is a .99 app for Android that will do the same thing.  Our transponder system is entirely voluntary, and for REM members only.  It is up to the racer to check out his or her lap times.  We are trying it this way so that there is no additional cost to our racers, and so that it does not slow down sign up in any way.  All current REM members will receive their sticker at the next race that they compete in.  New REM members will get theirs the next week after signing up for their REM membership.

For the iphone and ipad. It is called Offline Reader. You can find it here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/offline-reader-!/id411217271?mt=8 . It is free as well.

For Android devices: http://readitlaterlist.com/blog/2011/12/unwrapped-how-to-use-read-it-later-with-your-new-android-smartphone-or-tablet

It got great reviews but it does cost 99 cents.

REM holds weekly motocross races at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. The REM track is a natural terrain layout designed for all racer abilities first timer to pro. We have gone back to roots of motocross to design a layout with uphills, downhills, off cambers, turns of every type, drop offs, and jumps. Our goal since 1986 has always been to provide racers with a challenging but safe race track each week in which to compete. And to maintain a relaxed, fun atmosphere during your race day. Glen Helen Raceway charges $20 per motorcycle that comes into the park, that is the fee that they charge to practice on the Glen Helen National track. Spectators are free. Occasionally there will be a race on Saturday on the National track. On those days the raceway charges $10 for everyone through the gate, with no practice on the National track. The Glen Helen Raceway Hotline number is (909) 880-3090

Our sign up begins at 8am. Practice begins at 9am Sign up closes at 9:30am Racers must sign up before practice Practice is segregated by classes with the exception of practice 1 which is open to all REM racers except 65cc / 85cc, Riders meetings are held after practice is over and before the first moto. Racers are given a raffle ticket at sign up for giveaways during the riders meeting. Each week we raffle off great product awards from our sponsors like No Fear MX, EKS Brand Goggles, Maxxis Tires, AME Grips, and more. Racing begins about 10:30am. The races are 20 minutes long for pros and 15 minutes for all others. Awards are given to the top 30% of all classes. Your choice of an engraved plaque, or a discount on your next REM entry. We recommend that all racers wear up to date protective equipment. And that you have current medical and disability insurance for anyone racing. REM does not provide insurance coverage of any type for racers.
